Tomato Chatani (Sauce) Recipe
Whenever I plan to make Momo at home, the first thing comes to my mind is the sauce to be served with it. Today I am gonna share my hubby's recipe of Tomato Chatani. This recipe is very easy to follow and hardly takes 20-25 minutes to prepare.
Ingredient Required:
- Dried Red chilies (3 if you want more spicy you can add more)
- Garlic (5-6 cloves finely chopped)
- Timur aka Sichuan Pepper (5-6 husks)
- Turmeric (half tea spoon)
- Lemon Juice
- Salt to taste
- Oil
Instructions:
- Take a non-stick pan and heat little oil.
- Put Red chilies and deep fry it till it become shining red.
- Put the chopped garlic in it fry till it become light golden brown.
- Put the turmeric in same oil without mixing it with the garlic and fried chilies.
- After about 10 seconds add tomatoes in it.
- Add salt to taste.
- Fry the mixture in medium to low flame for around 5 to 10 mins or till the tomatoes become soggy.
- Take out the mixture from pan and put it in the fridge (you can also add some ice cubes in the mixture while putting it in fridge).
- Once the mixture is cold enough add the lemon juice.
- Grind the mixture in mixer grinder.
- Now tomato chatani is ready to be served with hot-hot Momo.
